BoeingBoeing has completed a detailed design for the latest and longest member of the 787 family, 787-10 Dreamliner, two weeks ahead of schedule.

With the completed design, Boeing has completed or released the information needed to build parts and tools for manufacturing or procurement.

Boeing expects to start major assembly of the 787-10 by next year and conduct its first flight in 2017 with first delivery expected in 2018.

The 787-10 is also the third addition to the 787 family, which can cover more than 90% of the world's twin-aisle routes with 11,910km range and less fuel.

Boeing said the aircraft is 25% more fuel efficient than its predecessors.

The design of 787-10 is similar to 787-9, which entered service last year but is18ft longer than the 787-9.

Boeing 787 airplane development vice-president Ken Sanger said: "With the 787-10, we are building upon our experience and the 787-9 design itself to create this newest member of the super-efficient 787 family."

Boeing builds its 787 in three different production lines, which includes two in Everett, including a temporary surge line and one in South Carolina.

The combined production system currently manufactures ten airplanes a month.

The company announced from next year, it will raise the production of 787s to 12 planes and 14 per month by the end of the decade.
