The Russian car market in 2015 fell by 36%

According to the Association of European Businesses, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia in 2015 fell by 35.7% and they were 1 601 216 cars. According to the forecast of the AEB, in 2016 the Russian car market will be 1.53 million cars, which is less by about 5% than the last year.

Leadership in the Russian market is kept by AvtoVAZ, which sold 269 096 vehicles in 2015, which is less by 30.5% than a year ago. Second place by sales is occupied by KIA - sales of 163,500 cars (-16%) provided the Korean brand with the leadership in the market of foreign cars. The third place is occupied by Hyundai with 161,201 sold cars (-10%). Then Renault follows - cars of this brand were chosen by 120411 customers (-38%). Toyota closes the "top-five" of leaders, which sold 98149 cars (-39%). The top-10 of best-selling brands at the end of 2015 also included Nissan (91100 units, -44%), Volkswagen (78,390 units, -39%), Skoda (55012 units, -35%), GAS (51192 units, -26%) and Chevrolet (49765 units, -60%).

According to the assessment of the analytic agency "AUTOSTAT", the capacity of the market of passenger cars in Russia in 2015, expressed in foreign currency was about 30 billion USD. It was two times less than the last year (61 billion USD). In turn, the Ruble capacity of the Russian car market decreased significantly less - from 2.34 trillion in 2014 to 1.8 trillion rubles in 2015, or by about quarter.
