New Mode of Innovation on Cutting Machine Tools

● Vturn-X200

● ~ 1st multi-tasking machine tool in VictorTaichung family

Totally 12 axis control on a turning lathe, this new model Vturn-X200 will be launched at coming TIMTOS 2009 as a milestone for multi-tasking machine tool in Victor Taichung’s family. Controlled by Fanuc latest controller, this twin-spindle lathe includes a rotary tool-spindle (B-axis) which swivels at +115°~ -110°. The live tools rotate at maximum speed 12000rpm for an angle milling along the workpieces clamped by the main spindle or the sub-spindle chucks to reveal a versatile application by single machine set-up.

Twin spindles are both equipped with built-in motor, 8” chuck and C-axis for turning and milling operations. The conventional upper turret is upgraded with a rotary tool-spindle (B-axis) which can be used as a conventional turret (with tool in spindle clamped by coupling) or as a milling head. With ATC design and 40 tool magazine, this tool spindle moves not only along the X-axis (travel 600mm) but also Y-axis (travel +/-80mm) by another ballscrew inside the carriage, this new model Vturn-X200 can also be granted as a machining center for multi-tasking machining.

The 5-axis simultaneous machining (X/Y/Z/C/B) is accomplished by the Fanuc control model 31i-A5. One extra monitor is included on the control panel to display more information on the machine status during the machine operation. To enhance the turning capability, a lower turret is included so two operations can be simultaneously completed by the main and sub spindles and this lower turret also offers the balance cutting with the upper tool-spindle. In addition, this lower turret facilitates the continuous turning during the tool changeover on the upper tool-spindle to reduce the overall cycle time. Facing upwards to the centerline, the turret disk can be used in the main and sub spindles and the 9-station tool design skillfully extends the turning length on the sub- spindle.

Technical layout:

● 3 spindles: 1st (left), 2nd (right) and tool-spindle (on B-axis)
● 12 axes: [X1, Y1, Z1, B, C1, X2, Z2, C2] + [E] (for 2nd spindle movement) + 2 axes [moving ATC, tool magazine] + 1 servo-driven turret.
