AMB

AMB to become the innovation platform for world market leaders in the autumn

Meeting point for experts on metal-machining / Innovations and future trends to be presented by leading companies

The upcoming AMB in Stuttgart from 13 - 17 September 2016 will again be bursting at the seams. The event organiser Messe Stuttgart already posted record figures for the previous event in 2014. The promotional supporters - the German Machine Tool Builders' Association (VDW) and the German Machine Tool and Plant Builders' Association (VDMA) with the Associations for Precision Tools and Software - contribute to this success. The same applies to the technical supporters Blue Competence, Handwerk International, Institute for Production Management, Technology and Machine Tools at the TU (Technical University) Darmstadt (PTW), Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector, VDW Foundation for Youth, Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation and WorldSkills Germany. The total exhibition area of the Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre of around 105,000 m2 and additional outdoor areas were occupied. Altogether, 1,357 exhibitors from 28 countries presenting their developments and innovations at the trade fair stands were counted. AMB Stuttgart thus underlines its significance as Europe's leading trade fair for metal working in even-numbered years. Again in 2016, all available space is already booked. There are no prospects for growth until 2018, when the new Paul Horn Hall (Hall 10) in the western section of the trade fair site will be taken into operation. The new hall will add an additional 15,000 m2 to the existing exhibition area, resulting in 120,000 m2  total hall space. Until then, only vertical expansion will be possible. So many exhibitors are building double-storey stands, or even three storeys.

The exhibition areas of AMB Stuttgart comprise metal-cutting and metal-removing machine tools, precision tools, measuring systems and quality assurance, workpiece and tool handling technology, robots, industrial software & engineering, components and accessories. The decisive difference to other events in this segment is the fact that at AMB Stuttgart primarily the manufacturers themselves exhibit, and are not represented by authorised agents or dealers. The exhibitors, amongst whom there are many world market leaders and major representatives of the respective segments, show their developments and present their innovations every two years at AMB. The list of registered exhibitors reads like a "who's who" of the machine-tool industry and precision-tool sector. This includes CHIRON-WERKE, DMG MORI SEIKI, EMCO, GF Machining Solutions, Gühring, HAHN+KOLB, Ilg + Sulzberger, INDEX-Werke, ISCAR Germany, KASTO Maschinenbau, KOMET GROUP, LMT Tool Systems, MAPAL Präzisionswerkzeuge, Nagel Werkzeug-Maschinen, Paul Horn, Sandvik Tooling Deutschland and Yamazaki Mazak Deutschland, to name just a few. In addition, these companies are active in the trade fair advisory board of AMB Stuttgart, which meets several times and supports Messe Stuttgart with strategic orientation and theme planning.

The framework programme of AMB Stuttgart comprises two main thematic focuses. With regard to youth development and advanced training, there are events such as the special show for young people put on by the VDW Foundation for Youth, the German finals of the WorldSkills competition, the Career Walk of the Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation, the "Art meets Technology" competition of the specialist magazine mav and the European MINT Convention. The specialist magazine fertigung, together with Haas Automation Europe, nominates the "Lathe Operator of the Year". The Initiative ThingING. provides information on university engineering courses and engineering careers. The second thematic focus is on Industry 4.0 and future trends. Here, there are offers such as the AMB Experts' Lounge, guided visitor tours looking at the themes of preservation of resources and energy efficiency organised by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector, the PTW "Innovationstour Metallbearbeitung" (metal working innovation tour) and the MM MaschinenMarkt Award. The Stuttgart Region Economic Development Corporation gives interesting presentations on current topics in the sector. Other programme features are planned.
