Green trend blows to Taiwan automobile industry

The increasing and vast demand from consumers for "safety, comfort, environmental protection and energy-saving"of automobiles creates great  opportunities. It is estimated that the production value in the global automobile electronics industry will reach US$176 billion by 2010 which account for 40% of complete cars.

Due to the strength of Taiwanese ICT industry, many companies have invested in the research and development of greener automotive products and preparing to share the market of green technology. As far as the LED industry is concerned, the design of automobile head lights focus intensively on the expression of light and enhancement of illuminating technology. As the regulation for new cars to equip with the daytime running light is made official by the European Union in 2011, it is expected the utilization of and innovative design with LED will become more and more popular in daytime running lights.

The growing demand of electric vehicles also makes a promising prospect for the lithium battery market, which is the key component for electric vehicles. According to a survey done by Frost & Sullivan in 2008, the production value of batteries for electric vehicles will grow from US$700 million in 2007 to US$2.3 billion by 2014. The compound annual growth rate is around 18.4%. Moreover, other components like low-rotation-speed engines which effectively reduce gas consumption and light-weight parts & accessories that cut back on the weight of the automobile body are all brining greater opportunities for the traditional auto parts industry.

Events, seminars and pavilion – Bring you to the GREEN AUTO WORLD

To provide more accesses on GREEN auto parts and automobile electronics, TAITRA has organized multiple events feature "energy saving & carbon reducing." To initiate the real practice, the Innovation Awards of"Auto Parts & Accessories" and "Automobile Electronics"will focus on "Energy saving and carbon reducing"to encourage exhibitors to develop eco friendly green products, such as environmentally-friendly upgrade halogen LED lamps, low gas-consumption engines, and light-weight parts & accessories, etc.  Winners will be presented with awards in the opening ceremony, and a dedicated area will be set up at the showground to display award winning products.

Moreover, the three pavilion: "Auto IT Total Solution Pavilion", "Intelligent Car Pavilion", and "Innovation Awards Pavilion" will be configured.  The "Auto IT Total Solution Pavilion" is sponsored by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs to display the manufacturing systems, management systems and business logistics systems by exhibitors such as domestic software companies and R&D institutions.  The well-regarded "Intelligent Car Pavilion" will again be facilitated by the Taiwan Automotive Research Consortium (TARC).  The Pavilion will include seminars where the latest developments and applications of intelligent cars in Taiwan will be released.
