The biennial Taiwan International Boat Show(TIBS) will be held at the Kaohsiung Exhibition Center on March 12th to 15th ,2020, and is expected to attract more than 25,000 professional buyers and visitors. According to the data provided by the Taiwan Yacht Industry Association, a total of 86 medium-sized and above yachts were sold in Taiwan in 2018, most of which are large yachts, and the export amount is approximately US$162 million, which is 8% higher than that of 2017. The average unit price per boat is up to US$1.88 million, a substantial increase of 20% compared with that of 2017. Exports to the American markets accounted for 74%. Exports to Europe and Australia accounted for 18%. Also, the statistics of ShowBoats International, Taiwan ranks fourth in the world and first in Asia for the number of yacht orders in 2018. Taiwan’s yacht manufacturing strength has attracted international attention, and our yacht supply chain is complete and solid. Exports for equipment such as marine hardware and propellers reached US$65 million; the quality is widely recognized by the international community and is strong support for the domestic yacht industry. TIBS 2020 is jointly organized by the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and the Kaohsiung City Government, implemented by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), and supported by the Taiwan Yacht Industry Association (TYIA). The exhibition continues to publicize and enhance the international awareness of Taiwan's yacht industry, and open up the domestic yacht market. The show is expected to gather more than 1,000 booths indoors and water berths, displaying top yachts, power boats and sailboats, spare parts, maritime services, diving and fishing equipment and outdoor leisure products, etc. During the exhibition, there will also be a wealth of activities such as industry forums, and water-based outdoor and leisure seminars. The exhibition venue is located in Kaohsiung, which has pleasant weather, natural harbors, and the Southern Taiwan yacht settlement. After visiting TIBS, buyers can visit the factories nearby. With the support from the industries and associations, the exhibition has become the best yacht purchasing platform in Asia. According to the statistics of TIBS 2018 of TAITRA, 726 foreign buyers from 31 countries including China, the United States, Japan, Korea, and Singapore came to Taiwan to visit the exhibition, and more than 20,000 visitors attended. The results were fruitful as 13 yachts were sold on site.
