Water-Filled Rubber Dam - Water-Operated Barrier for Water Control and Flood Protection
The water-filled rubber dam is a flexible barrier made of high-strength synthetic fabric layers bonded with rubber. The dam bag is fixed to a concrete base slab and connected to a water supply system that includes a pump station, pipelines, valves, and a control unit. When water is pumped in, the bag expands to hold back the river and lift the upstream water level. When the water is drained, the bag settles flat on the slab and floodwater passes through freely.
Main Advantages:
Strong and durable: Fabric-reinforced rubber layers resist aging, abrasion, sunlight, and harsh weather
Solid and steady: The water-filled bag has a heavy body that stays stable against wind, waves, and vibration
Easy height adjustment: Raise or lower the dam by filling or draining water
Convenient operation: Manual, remote, or automatic control available, and nearby river water can be used to fill the bag
Easy maintenance: No heavy steel gates, hoists, or complex mechanical parts
Lower investment: Shorter construction time and lower cost than conventional steel or concrete dams
Clear flood passage: The flat, drained bag keeps the channel open during floods
Environmentally friendly: Forms a smooth overflow water view with little effect on the river channel
Typical Uses:
Irrigation and water conservancy projects, hydropower stations, flood control, river and city landscape water features, water storage and diversion, tidal barriers, and seawater intrusion prevention.
