    For PT ferric core, it adopts cold-gripping directivity silicon sheet steel and rolled iron core, and the coil is a copper conductor and its polarity is of minus polarity. The shielding bushings and two ends of the coil are all fully insulated. Therefore, PT is suitable for the applications of installation purpose with existing exterior frame. The maximum ambient temperature should not exceed 40˚C; its scope of applicability are: suitable for 12kV class, 24kV class PTs installed on fare-meter-assembled set of outdoor construct, pole-top or power distribution box devices.

What is a potential transformer?

Potential transformers are instrument transformers. They have a large number of secondary turns and a fewer number of primary turns. They are used to increase the range of voltmeters in electrical substations and generating stations. SOMETIMES CALLED AS VOLTAGE TRANSFORMERS - USED FOR LINE AND CIRCUIT PROTECTIONS The turns ratio described above is backwards: There is a large number of primary turns and only few secondary turns so that the voltage is stepped down from the high voltagbe used in a power transmission line to a low voltage actually being measured.
